Humankind is imperfect. Individuals have always sought power, and power always corrupts. Power may be more addicting than drugs. The centralization of power within a political system has never ended well. The U.S. founding fathers designed a system of government to provide the needed checks and balances on power, and challenges to the Constitution continued after it was signed. The erosion of these checks and balances has contributed to the political and cultural divide within America.

My speech at the rally incorporated both a conservative and a biblical worldview. And, of course, there was disagreement, opposite and opposing positions and philosophies. Note: Taking action to improve a process to achieve a more ideal outcome has a 100% success rate if you learn something new. But, it takes effort, time, patience, and commitment to work through the repeated cycles of a Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) cycle. Spiritual Warfare

Good advice about stocking up, having some cash, and having paper (hard copy) documentation for information including bank and IRA accounts, etc. was given during the Sunday service on November 21, 2021, by Pastor Tim Conboy of New Life Community Church in Brown County, IN: Presentation (starts around 57:48) on the topics of The Great Reset and End Times. 

Pastor Conboy’s presentation on Globalism, The Great Reset, and Biblical Principals provides more background on the threat from globalists represented by the World Economic Forum. Significant among these is “cyber-COVID.” A follow-up on the topic regarding the digital equivalent of COVID includes a “fictional” (worst-case) scenario for possible effects. Cyberwarfare is likely more of an option than EMP or Nuclear.

In his November 29, 2021 Sunday sermon, Crucifying Christ Again: Is The Apocalypse Now? Father John Echert draws an analogy between what’s going on globally today to what was happening inside the walls of Jerusalem in 70 AD. That was AN apocalypse. Is this THE apocalypse now? Looking at the signs of the times, Father argues that at the very least, the mystical body of Christ is entering into another passion very similar to that which Jesus Christ suffered 2000 years ago. What should we do? Well, here’s a hint: Of the estimated million people who were slaughtered by the Romans in 70 AD, not one Christian perished. Why? Michael Matt, editor of Remnant Newspaper (Catholic), gave a lecture at the 2021 Roman Forum, “Band of Brothers: The Remnant and Other Warriors of the Movement.”  He covers the history of the split in the church between the traditional Catholics (counter-revolution – the tip of the spear) characterized by those that continue to support the Latin Mass and pre-Vatican II traditions and the New Mass and Church created from Vatican II. The Pope supports The Great Reset, Covid Policies (Plandemic) and a Global World Order.  Archbishop Viganò (a traditionalist—more references below) is one of the more outspoken members of the clergy opposing the Pope and his leadership.

In December 2021, Norman Podhoretz published an opinion piece on the Spiritual War for America in the Wall Street Journal. He stated, “It’s a war, in my view. Many people are reluctant to see it in those terms. I mean, people say it’s a lot like 1858 and so on, but I don’t see it as a prelude to a civil war and 600,000 Americans dead. That’s not my meaning. But spiritually it’s a war.” Mr. Podhoretz keeps returning to the theme of war, a war made necessary, in his view, by the anti-Americanism of the political left. Is the hatred of America worse than it used to be? “Unquestionably,” he says. “This ‘woke’ business—Critical Race Theory, Black Lives Matter, all of it—is just pure anti-American hatred…We’re in a war, and it’s a war to the death. Now they actually admit it.”

Michael Anton wrote on Blue America’s Messaging Problem. He summed up their message: “We must rule you, punitively, forever—and if you so much as complain, you are literally Hitler. All shall love me and despair…That is Blue America’s message to Red. Whether or not it can succeed, and for how long, are the core political questions of our time.”

The Democrats’ exploitation of Jan. 6 gives away their game. Ben Shapiro suggests we call Jan. 6 for what it was: “an ugly but not pivotal moment in American history.” He goes on to say, “January 6 [2021], to opportunistic Democrats, is the all-purpose excuse to use the entire weight of their party to push for a radical revision of Senate rules and federal elections. “Every Day Is Hunt Down Conservatives Day Now.” – New York Times telegraphs the left’s intent to use the January 6 anniversary to repress conservatives

Dick Cheney reappeared in the House of Representatives on the anniversary of January 6^th, where the day was repeatedly described as a “coup” or an “insurrection” (instead of something closer to the American version of a soccer riot). Matt Taibbi’s article, A Tale of Two Authoritarians, says his reappearance helped identify the true villain on the scene.

Trump’s Christmas message earns praise from Franklin Graham

Selwyn Duke compared the egos of Trump and Obama in God and Ego: Trump vs. Obama. Duke first shares a snippet of what Trump said while speaking at Dallas’s First Baptist Church in December 2021: “Our country has a Savior. And it’s not me …Remember that Jesus Christ is the ultimate source of our strength and our hope.” And then he compares that to an Obama interview in the Chicago Sun-Times during his 2004 Senate run: “While running for the U.S. Senate from Illinois in 2004, Obama was interviewed by Chicago Sun-Times religion reporter Cathleen Falsani, and what he revealed was striking, indeed. Obama spouted boilerplate leftist philoso-babble for much of the interview. One interesting point, however, was when Falsani asked him, ‘What is sin?’ Obama’s answer? ‘Being out of alignment with my values,’ he said.”

America is under unprecedented attack. Challenges include a more pervasive belief that man and a larger, more tyrannical and controlling government inspired by Marxist philosophies and led by globalist elites will lead to man’s version of utopia. History, however, indicates that this “utopia” is hell on earth. The elites believe the failures and mistakes of past efforts by the elites of those times can be avoided through their unique brand of leadership in support of their vision of utopia. And, within any group of elites, there are always a few that work to further consolidate power under their leadership.

Marxist Revolution in the Making in America, Expert Warns

Biblical prophecy identifies that humans are not basically good. We are all sinners (imperfect). Another insight is that some humans will continually seek to gain, centralize, and abuse power. In a political context, this eventually leads to a “one-world” (global) government that the antichrist will control, followed by Armageddon. Armageddon is the final battle between good and evil. As prophesized, Jesus Christ will return and defeat evil. He establishes peace on earth for one thousand years and then for eternity. “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” – Mathew 13:32, NIV

The United States is a secular country whose design was influenced by Judeo-Christian principles. Our founders, many of whom were Christians, understood the Bible, lessons from history, and insight into human nature. The Constitution includes built-in checks and balances on power. The Bill of (Human) Rights empowers “We the People” [top management] to work together in pursuit of “a more perfect Union.” This requires that changes result in outcomes where everyone benefits (more needs are met), or at least, are not any worse off in the long term. This is in contrast to our current situation where actions motivated by hate and contempt are taken to divide, weaken, destroy, and transform the country.

Regarding the term “perfect,” in the Christian context, only God is perfect; man is imperfect and expected to improve. Jesus Christ is the standard of perfection. These facts align with the principles of continuous improvement and quality management. Reducing variation from the ideal (more perfect) leads to more needs being met and less harm on people when needs are not met. Additional information can be found here: Success through Quality.

Challenges to the Constitution continued after it was signed into law. These challenges contributed to Benjamin Franklin’s response to a group of citizens asking what sort of government the delegates had created. His reply: “A republic, if you can keep it.” 

Have We “Kept It?”

The checks and balances on power have been slowly eroded to the extent the U.S. may now be functioning more as an oligarchy than a republic. Key findings from a study referenced at Represent.US concluded the following:

“… data from nearly 2000 public opinion surveys … compared what the public wanted to what the government actually did. What they found was extremely unsettling: The opinions of 90% of Americans have essentially no impact at all.”

This erosion of the checks and balances on power manifests in the harm caused today by the leftist strategies and policies pursued by the current administration and its allies.

The Constitution and Bill of Rights are our last line of defense and provide citizens the power to fight back against the policies of the Leftists and to mitigate their destructive effects. We can work together within our local community to work through these turbulent and chaotic times while strengthening our republic. Eventually, there will be a transition to The Better Times – the banishment of evil and peace on earth—in other words, THE GREATEST RESET.

They have been considered as representing the political center. The aim of this post is to support the application of principles, methods, and actions that can result in outcomes where everyone can benefit, or at least, are not any worse off in the long term.

Actions – Biden Administration

This includes leftist policies including “Build Back Better” that align with The Great Reset. This scenario reflects the desire for an expansion and centralization of government control (more power in the hands of the few) in all aspects of life with the belief that the leftist vision of utopia is best for America. These policies are like a virus that is deliberately aimed to weaken and destroy the country. Klaus Schwab’s The Great Reset outlines the globalist, elitist, and deep state positions as opposed to national interests.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi thinks America is just so very, very lucky in these trying times. The House speaker, contrary to most public opinion polls, heaped praise upon President Biden and his job performance, even saying the President is “just perfect.”

In November, Global leaders including President Biden, European Commission President Von Der Leyen, and UK Prime Minister Johnson announced their commitment to addressing the climate crisis through infrastructure development. They discussed how the Build Back Better, World Global Gateway, and Clean Green Initiatives will jumpstart investments, sharpen focus, and mobilize resources to meet critical infrastructure needs to support economic growth, while ensuring that this infrastructure is clean, resilient, and consistent with a net-zero future.

In June, 2021, the Biden administration released the first-ever National Strategy for Countering Domestic Terrorism to address this challenge to America’s national security and improve the federal government’s response. A 100-day comprehensive review completed as directed by President Biden found “the two most lethal elements of today’s domestic terrorism threat are (1) racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists who advocate for the superiority of the white race and (2) anti-government or anti-authority violent extremists, such as militia violent extremists.

This includes working to gain control of Congress in 2022 and 2024 and the Presidency in 2024. A priority is to work to ensure election integrity and counter the attacks on America by the Leftists. The expectation is to reverse the push toward socialism and restore the Constitutional Republic and the rule of law. Given the political and cultural differences, this will unlikely bridge the divides in the country and may increase them. Counteraction – Christian Worldview and The Great Reset

Biblical prophecy indicates the emergence of a one-world (global) government that is controlled by the antichrist. Israel is at the center of Armageddon. After a period of turmoil and tribulations, Jesus Christ restores order and establishes peace on earth for a thousand years and then for eternity, e.g., The Better Times. Individuals who choose to embrace the Christian faith gain eternal life. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV)

The transition to a one-world (global) government is not expected to be an easy transition.

“Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.” (Luke 21:10-11)

The United States is not inferred in Revelations as coming to the aid of Israel in the final battle, which begs the question, what happens to and in America? Further questions: How does the world and the United States transition to this one-world (global) government? What would be the indicators? 

The End Times and The Great Reset

Christian faith includes the belief that actions motivated by love will result in outcomes where everyone benefits or at least, or not any worse off in the long term. The End Times will lead to The Better Times.

Nov 8, 2021.  Nashville responsible for changing the zoning to B3 when the property was annexed. Per the County Planning Department, “Legislative bodies (in this case the Town Council) have the power to change zoning designations during Annexation procedures without input from the Plan Commission.”

• This begs the question: What was the process used by the council to make this change? What was the legal basis and required steps? Were public meetings held? Were neighbors notified? Is documentation available?

Nov 4, 2021.  Nashville Technical Review Committee — 1 p.m., Town Hall. Agenda includes review of new buildings project by Stephen Alexander at 1415 East Old State Road 46.

• DRC/Technical Review Board Meeting – Notes. The developers will be putting in two retail buildings in separate locations on the property and a swimming pool. No specifics on the type of retail were provided. The design will be a “Farmstead Look.” The building will be on the north side of Salt Creek in a “Flood Fringe area. Per the town, they can be hooked up to the sewers. And before getting building permits, they will have to meet all requirements to include  flood-way related issues. Not much anyone can do regarding the development. One of the buildings will be 3,700 sq.ft. and the other 4,000. Utility building is 1500 sq.ft.

Nov 2, 2021. Zoning boards approve, deny different tourism attractions By Staff Reports 

• …   the Brown County Board of Zoning Appeals denied a special exception to allow a 185 spot luxury RV campground.

  The Salmon Room at the Brown County Office Building was full on Oct. 27 with around 40 residents.

  Over an hour 23 residents spoke against the proposed project with most of them living on or owning property near the proposed park area in a field off of Old State Road 46 near the intersection of Clay Lick Road.

  The petitioner, Stephen Alexander, was requesting a special exception for a private recreational development on 20 acres of his 71.76 acre parcel.

  The property is located within town limits and is zoned business (B3), which is a service and warehouse business use designation. Under that zoning all general business uses are allowed along with a commercial parking structure, car sales room, drive-in restaurants, storage warehouse, filling station and tourist home, according to the town’s zoning ordinance.

  The property is also in the floodway. Alexander has owned the field where the proposed park was going to go for 30 years.

  Proposed “new buildings” at Alexander’s Old 46 property are on the agenda for project review at the Nashville Technical Review Committee this Thursday, Nov. 4. The meeting is at 1 p.m. in the Nashville Town Hall, 200 Commercial Street.

Oct 29, 2021. I checked with the County Planning Office. They are the ones that approve any building permits in the B3 Zone. They provided the following information:

• A few uses would not require building permits such as creating a public park with no structures. Any use that is considered development in the Floodplain (Fringe areas) would need local floodplain permits. Development in areas of the Floodway district would require permits from the DNR Water Division and local Floodplain Permits. Any structures over 400 square feet to be placed in the FF or FW would have to meet elevation requirements with the lowest floor being elevated to at least 2 feet above base flood elevation (BFE) or for commercial buildings, floodproofed by either elevation or mechanical means. In addition to floodplain permits and building permits for structures, the Nashville DRC would be involved in granting or denying certificates of appropriateness.

  Nashville also has a floodplain ordinance in Town Jurisdiction.

Oct 27, 2021. BZA Meeting. Unanimous NO vote. Brown  County residents at their finest provide “expert testimony” as to the issues and harmful impacts associated with this development.

• If the BZA did not approve the special exception, developer threatened a “Plan B” where he could support projects that comply with the existing Gneral Business (GB) B3 Zoning – Service and Warehouse Business Use, without needing BZA Approval.

  • HOWEVER, He will need building permits that are approved by the County!

Based on a review of the County Comprehensive Plan, the submitted project documents, and comments from citizens posted on two Brown County Specific Facebook pages – Brown County Matters and Brown County Chatter (see enclosures), I do not believe this project as described in the submitted documents, is in alignment with the County Comprehensive Plan and in the best interests of the county.

Regarding the Facebook comments, I provided a copy (enclosures) in PDF files to allow for a quick review.  The original posts as well as reactions can be easily viewed on the respective Facebook group pages.

This 185 Site RV Park supports more tourism. A vision for more tourism is not specifically addressed in the County Comprehensive Plan. When is more tourism too much for the infrastructure (including roads) and acceptable by county residents? Andy Rogers recognized the importance of maintaining a balance. His vision was to accommodate tourism and not destroy the culture and “soul” of the county:

• “People say, ‘Well, we can’t change.’ But we can change and still retain some of the flavor of Brown County. We need people to live here. I’m in the tourist business but we don’t want to turn this town over to the tourists. You can go to Gatlinburg if you want to see what happens to a town that turns it all over to business. It’s not a town anymore—it’s a shopping center.

   

• “We don’t need to be slick and highly commercial. We need to be more country. Country is what we sell…. We need to maintain that. Once you destroy that, it won’t come back.”

 The County Comprehensive Plan (14 pages) represents the “Voice” of the residents. Although it meets the minimum requirements by the state, it is too short and vague. This allows for “flexibility” where arguments for or against a project can be equally valid. The plan does not provide the level of specificity that should be needed to make the best decision regarding the proposed 185 Site RV park. The plan does not specifically mention support for a project of this scope to be located on land that is used for agriculture and homes.

Specific Comments – Alignment with the Comprehensive Plan:

01. The 185 Site RV Park is not in alignment with the Count Comprehensive Plan (CCP). The plan mission statement identifies the following: “To provide guidance on decision making regarding Brown County land use, public service and zoning that enhances the quality of life for the residents based on the county’s natural beauty and rural atmosphere.”

• How does this project enhance the quality of life for “residents”? Why would a 185 site RV (mobile home) Park be considered an enhancement to the “natural beauty and rural atmosphere”?
• Enclosures 1 and 2 identify the comments from residents sharing their “Voice” regarding the project. Those that are opposed or have concerns provide more detail regarding their position than the individuals that just commented that they were in favor of the project.

02.  Plan -Introduction. “There is a special need to understand that planning should identify and encourage those land uses that have been positive over time, especially those that contribute to the distinctive character of this “special place” called Brown County. Planning can guard against rapid change and growth that are incompatible with existing infrastructure and the county’s “quality of life vision.“

• There is no history or evidence of how an RV Park of this size has had a positive influence in the county.
• How does a 185 Site RV Park add to the distinctive character of this “special place called Brown County” or “quality of life vision”? This project supports tourism, e.g., more visitors – NOT residents.
• There has been no evidence submitted, nor is it stated in the Comprehensive Plans, that that an increase in the number and size of RV parks are recognizes as a desired outcome.
• Brown County State Park does support camping to include RV Parks, Camping Trailers and Tent Camping. Covid has increased the demand for sites that may be addressed in the future by the Park. Over 50% of the land in Brown County is owned by the state, feds, or non-profit conservation organizations. Land Use for agriculture, residents and appropriate development that serves ALL residents are included in goals in the Comprehensive Plan.

03. Traffic and Safety

• Brown County’s two-lane roads adds a constraint to increases in more visitors. Hard Truth Hills and the Music Center now contribute to more year-round tourism which adds more congestion to our roads.
• The location of the proposed 185 Site RV Park is in close proximity to the intersection of old 46, Highway 46 and the North Gate Entrance to Brown County State Park. This intersection has been known to be among the most congested (and accident prone) in the county at times. The State has refused to put in a stop light. And, if they did put in a light, this would add to the back-up traffic on 46 creating more frustration and adding increased travel time for residents.

Indiana Citizen’s Planner’s Guide. Part 2 Board of Zoning Appeals Basics by KK Gerhart-Fritz, AICP, identifies “Developmental Standards Variance Criteria per IC 36-7-4-918.5”. Specifically:

01. The approval will not be injurious to the public health, safety, morals, and general welfare of the community.

• • As stated above, the project is incompatible with the intent and goals expressed in the County Comprehensive Plan and the “Voice” of the residents.
  • Facebook comments from county specific Facebook groups (see enclosures) do identify residents’ concerns and opposition to this project. The public sentiment as well as the comprehensive plan, would likely support affordable housing for residents in this area.
  • The location of the proposed park does add to traffic congestion and risks to safety. The State may not approve a request for a traffic light and even if they did, this would add to traffic backups and impatient drivers that tend to create condition that may lead to more accidents

02. The use and value of the area adjacent to the property included in the variance will not be affected in a substantially adverse.

• Adding a commercial property in an area consisting of agriculture and homes does have an adverse impact on the “natural beauty and rural atmosphere” as well as morale, that is intended to be protected by the Comprehensive Plan. Further, it sets a bad precedent.

03.The strict application of the terms of the zoning ordinance will result in practical difficulties in the use of the property.

• “Practical difficulty” is adding to the congestion on Old 46 and 46 across from the North Gate to the State Park which will be the main ingress and regress routes. Traffic on old 46 will also be impeded. Luxury RV’s heading west on old 46 to Nashville would certainly add to the traffic congestion.

In conclusion, in addition to this planning guidance, the County Comprehensive Plan represents the “voice” of residents regarding their support for changes. The Facebook comments (see enclosures) provide a strong indication that a 185 Site RV Park is not acceptable.

An optimal strategy would support the pursuit of “Truth” e.g., the right answers. This would include breaking -down the issues, prioritize, and provide a variety of solutions. What individuals and groups are at the most risk?  Who are at the least risk?  What data is needed to assess progress?  This would include listening to those experts that challenge the prevailing narratives.

Transparency

• • Dr. Mary Bowden files first lawsuit against Methodist Hospital in Houston TX, over financial records.

Stop the Mandate Rally.  Dr. Malone mentioned that half the doctors that spoke at the rally identified as Democrats.  A truly non-partisan pushback on national Covid policies.

• • The U.S. medical strategy has focused almost exclusively on vaccines. A relentless stream of “breakthrough” infections, new safety concerns, and the continual emergence of new mutations suggest that doubling down on failing strategies not only leads to public frustration. It also inhibits us from exploring alternatives. Doing more of the same in the face of the omicron crisis does not evoke confidence or gain the public’s trust.  
  • We must reinvigorate new science that explores all evidence-based pathways to immunity. Natural infection and traditional vaccines, such as inactivated/dead virus, should be properly compared to mRNA and recombinant vaccines; the unvaccinated provide a much-needed control group in this regard. We also need a realistic testing plan that uses measures properly vetted by the regulatory agencies and provide standardized testing protocols globally. Celebrating progress is important. But let’s not celebrate our way to complacency. Evolving problems require creative new thinking.

• • Omnicron: How likely is Omicron to deliver not an irritating cold but the worst flu of your life? How does that risk increase with the number and severity of medical conditions a person has? What are the chances of lingering symptoms following a mild illness? How long does immunity last after a booster shot or an infection?Ref: The New Yorker. What is the effect on those with natural immunity?
  • Not shown in the State reports or provided is the additional number and percent of citizens that recovered from Covid and have natural immunity.
  • Adverse Effects.  What are the known side-effects from the vaccines?  What are the know side-effects from those that were unvaxxed but recovered, e.g., such as no sense of smell or taste? 
  • What are the adverse effects from the vaccine reported in VAERS?  What percent of adverse reactions are reported in Indiana?
  • On “New Positive Cases,” how many were vaccinated vs unvaccinated. Of those that were vaccinated and contracted a new variant, what are the treatment protocols? For the unvaccinated with or without natural immunity, what are the recommended treatment protocols?   
  • Of the deaths, how many of these were individuals with comorbidities? What were the ages? How many were vaccinated vs unvaccinated? For the unvaccinated, how many had natural immunity?
    • Answer : The CDC Reports that there were co-morbidities or other conditions listed on the death certificate for as many as 95% of all Covid deaths. Obesity worsens outcomes from Covid-19. CDC Director states over 75% of  COVID Deaths In Vaccinated Had ‘At Least 4 Comorbidities’
  • Does the state (or “county health department”) support supplementing your diet with Vitamin D, C, and Zinc? Other recommendations?  Is there correlation to mortality and obesity?
  • Does the current reporting infer that ALL citizens should be vaccinated? If so, this is most likely an unrealistic goal and does not provide the quality of information citizens need to make informed decisions on vaccinations. Individuals throughout the country are leaving their jobs when given the ultimatum to get vaccinated.

  • The most common misuse of statistics is when based on the numbers, a judgment is made that something is increasing or decreasing. What is generally unknown is that there are standards pioneered in America and accepted internationally for identifying  trends.

    Generally, you need 20-25 data points that can then be placed on a Run Chart along with the median (center-line). Depending on the standard, the following trends would indicate an increase or decrease and if it was sustained, would indicate a systemic change: Six (6) consecutive points in a row rising or falling; Eight (8) consecutive points in a row above or below the centerline. The simplest standard is the Rule of 7 – 7 data points in a row increasing or decreasing or 7 in a row above or below the centerline. (PQ Systems Trends)

The most common misuse of statistics is when based on the numbers, a judgment is made that something is increasing or decreasing. What is generally unknown is that there are standards pioneered in America and accepted internationally for assessing trends.

Generally, you need 20-25 data points that can then be placed on a run chart along with the median (center-line). Depending on the standard, the following criteria would indicate an increase or decrease and if it was sustained, might indicate a systemic change:

• • Six (6) Consecutive Points in a row rising or falling;
  • Eight (8) Consecutive Points in a row above or below the centerline.
  • The simplest standard is the rule of 7 – 7 data points in a row increasing or decreasing or 7 in a row above or below the centerline. (PQ Systems Trends)

LinkedIn – Covid – Misuse of Control Charts by Dr. Tony Burns Misuse of Process Behavior Charts is rife. An example of such misuse is the many attempts to use Process Behavior Charts for Covid data.

• • “Down the Rabbit Hole” have shown how the right approach is Professor Deming’s “Operational Definition”, or what Dr Shewhart called “Operational Meaning”:

1. 1. What do you want to accomplish?
   2.  By what method will you accomplish your objective?
   3.  How will you know when you have accomplished your objective?

• • The first step is to ask, what are you trying to achieve? Professor Deming wanted to know if the processes he was studying were running at their maximum potential. He also asked whether these processes would continue to run at their maximum potential into the future. The tool he chose was the Shewhart Chart.
  • The first step with Covid data should be to ask “What do you want to accomplish?” Folk trying to draw control charts for Covid data have not asked this question.
  • What we want to know about Covid is whether it is getting better or worse. What we want to accomplish is a downward trend. The best method to observe such trends is the Run Chart, or Bar Chart.
  • Control Charts cannot help answer this question. All that a control chart can show is that the data is non-homogeneous. However we already know this because of the way the disease is spread from one person to many more people.
  • Control charts are ideal for bringing a process to its full potential and ensuring good quality into the future. They are worthless for COVID-19 data. Use a run/bar chart as shown. Run charts are ideal for showing trends.
  • “How will you know when you have accomplished your objective?” We will know this when the Run Chart trends to zero.
  • The root cause for the ubiquitous misuse of Process Behavior Charts is firstly courses failing to teach the fundamentals of Quality. The second cause is statistical software which encourages the blind pressing of buttons without thinking. When you have bought an expensive hammer, don’t spend your time looking for things to use it on. Use common sense instead.  THINK.

Facebook Challenges.  Every now and then, we have one or more issues on Brown County Matters that generate controversy, criticism, hard feelings, and false allegations.  The recent posts on the Indiana election and the Governors non-support of the President’s Covid mandates reflect a Left vs Right political divide that is common throughout the country.

Brown County Matters is a private Facebook Group requiring members to live, work, or own property in the county.  Posts are intended to be of local (county) interests. It has general rules of expected behavior and the respective  rule (s) are cited when a post is removed.   Individuals are also blocked from the site when their  contributions tend to be more disingenuous than constructive.

My perspective on the differences derived from the posts on the Election and Covid policy topics are provided below. 

Left Perspective

From a  “Left” perspective, the integrity of the 2020 Indiana and Presidential election should not be questioned and the Covid policy is not debatable or questionable.  On Covid policy and vaccines, the conclusion from the Left is that “its settled science, shut up, get the shot (s), do what your told, and don’t question who we identify as the “experts.”

The First Amendment allows individuals to express their opinions. Any sources of information not approved by the government, local gatekeepers, or the “fact/bias” checkers (that claim to be non-partisan and independent) represents misinformation.   It  is interesting when the word “harmful” is associated with some information posted inferring adults are not capable of determining the quality of the information provided.  And it begs the question:  Who determines what information should be disseminated and how?

All original posts on BCM must align with the rules but replies to posts can include an alternative point of view regarding the message.  Multiple sources of information are always helpful in validating information and identifying patterns.   And, individuals do criticize the quality of a post to include posting counter information as to what they believe to be  misinformation. 

For example, in reply to the local school mask policy,  I posted a video by Dr. Dan Stock to the Mt. Vernon school board advising against masks.  This was considered “misinformation.”  Other members posted criticisms by other doctors of Dr. Stocks position – all good.  An online interview was then arranged by an independent party that allowed a discussion between Dr. Stock and one of his critics – very civil, professional, and informative.  This type of discussion should be encourage – not suppressed. I would like to see follow-on discussions where viewers could ask questions and more detail can be discussed on the various aspects of the issue.  For more info: Dr. Dan Stock addressed the Mt. Anyone (the messenger) questioning the Lefts narrative on many topics may be immediately attacked, cancelled, bullied, or labeled in a derogatory manner.  The “message” that challenges the prevailing narrative is rarely discussed by the critics and would require a little more thought and analysis. It’s much easier to just attack the messenger, claim fake news or bias, question motives or just avoid the subject and debate. Critics are also subject to projection –  projecting their own faults onto other people.

• Another example of this is an article posted in the  Brown County Democrat – Real threat to America isn’t Afghan refugees” that attacks anyone that disagrees with the left leaning author who also happens to be a director of Franklin College’s Pulliam School of Journalism.

• The Left Is Everything They Hate by Dan Gelertner, American Greatness

In addition to projection, another common attribute of the Left is “virtue signaling” defined as “the sharing of one’s point of view on a social or political issue, often on social media, in order to garner praise or acknowledgment of one’s righteousness from others who share that point of view, or to passively rebuke those who do not.”

On the integrity of the Indiana election issues, I included a link to an article that discussed similar issues on the national election – The big ‘known unknown’ of 2020 by J. E Dyer at Liberty Unyielding.  The author is a retired Naval Intelligence officer and offers a unique, objective, and broad perspective on many issues.   Liberty Unyielding and the author were labeled as representing the “right wing fringe.”   

Right Perspective

From what is being labeled as a “Right” perspective, our system of government enables citizens to work together to achieve a more perfect Union. This can be achieved by developing more perfect (better) policies. This requires an open forum and ground rules to discuss all relevant information and perspectives. 

In the case of Covid, medical professionals locally as well as throughout the word have diverse and often opposing points of view regarding causes, prevention, treatments and policies.  Another subject of disagreement is on natural and herd immunity.

Many medical professionals that question the approved narrative are “canceled” and/or censored and accused of providing misleading information. What has been missing is an open forum that addresses questions, acknowledges the differences, identifies area of agreement and disagreement, and then identifies the information needed to continually develop and improve upon the best solutions.  This process builds trust, confidence in leadership, and leads to the better solutions.

When working towards a solution, leaders can opt for a process where everyone can benefit, or choose a win/lose (zero-sum) approach which unfortunately, is the more common approach. 

The position regarding national polices is often inferred by the Left as “We won the election and we’re doing things our way , go along or else.”  This approach leads to opposition and suboptimal outcomes.

Conservative positions on elections raise issues on the capability of the respective systems and processes to ensure citizen that elections are fair and all legal votes are counted. This has led to the demand for forensic audits and legislative changes with the intent to improve the system for future elections.  The American Society of Quality (ASQ) – Government Division has recently proposing an improved management system  supporting election authorities to enhance trust and confidence in U.S. elections

Brown County Leader Network 

In America by law, We the People are top management and are responsible for expecting and supporting changes  that result in outcomes where everyone benefits or at least are not any worse off in the long-term.  Unfortunately, this knowledge may not be commonly acknowledged due to the influence of the two-party system, lack of knowledge of history and civic education in the schools.

Thankfully, Brown County Schools do support civic education and student teams have won national competitions on their knowledge of Constitutional issues.  More info: We the People – Brown County Schools.

In contrast, the Board of the Brown County League of Women Voters (LoWV) endorsed a position from the National League that supports a position that leads to  divisiveness and sustains racism: 

• Whereas, the League acknowledges painfully that America is a nation founded on racism. We must end white privilege and the myth of white supremacy if we are to become the nation we pledge to be … 

The 2020 platform of the Democrat candidates for office also supported the premise regarding  the pervasiveness (systemic) of racism and inequality and admitted to having no evidence to support their theory:

• We call for the end to racism in all forms. We call for a review of all county laws, directives and initiatives of all kinds by any agency or segment of county government to determine if any such laws, directives or initiatives have or could result in racism or inequality in any form. We call for the expeditious remediation of any such instances so found.

On the banner image for Matters, there is a link to the Brown County Leader Network (BCLN). This site offers some principles, methods and tools in developing assessments and supporting improvements. In developing solutions that can lead to better outcomes, the stakeholder matrix is a useful tool. The matrix is used to  identify everyone (stakeholders) effected by a change, the information or services they expect and the feedback they need and will use to assess results.  This concept applied at a local or national level offers an alternative way of acknowledging differences and helping to develop support for solutions.

The BCLN site also provides an outline of a problem and decision-making process.  This process aligns with the Justice system in helping to discover the truth and identify the best decisions.  Facts and evidence are used to help identify a problem.  The pros (prosecution), cons (defense) and risks are identified.  Transparency along with the supporting documentation help develop support for the respective changes.

Civil War?

Regarding the ideologies of the Left and Right, Dennis Prager captures what he believes to be  key attributes. “A Guide to Basic Differences Between Left and Right”  Prager was also labeled as being part of the right wing fringe.

• Prager makes a distinction between  the  traditionally defined “liberals” and the Left or Leftists.  He consider the liberals and conservatives as natural allies.  He also assesses that we are in the midst of a Civil War: “Either America survives and the left is defeated, or the left survives and America is defeated. It’s as simple as that. We are in a civil war; I pray it is not violent, although if it is, they have begun the violence. If you deny we are in a civil war, you’re having your head in the proverbial sand.”
• The focus of the December 2019 issue o the Atlantic was on the topic of  “How to Stop A Civil War.   The August 13, 2021 issue includes a final article in  series titled Will the U.S. Pass a Point of No Return? “Crossing the Rubicon: “If the United States, in recent years, has been tracking the decline and fall of Republican Rome, when do we pass the point of no return?”

  • As I have noted repeatedly, liberalism and leftism have virtually nothing in common. In fact, leftism is the enemy of liberalism – as a handful of liberals such as former New York Times writer Bari Weiss, former Young Turk Dave Rubin and others have come to recognize.

Context: Moral Authority – The Right Thing

An underlying basis for discussions is recognizing the moral authority that motivates  ideology.  What is the right thing, how is it determined, and by whom?   

The secular design of the U.S.  system of government was influenced by Judeo-Christian  principles which accepts God as the moral authority. The Christian philosophy includes a belief that actions motivated by love lead to outcomes where everyone gains, or at least, are not any worse off in the long-term. The premise being that as more needs are met, there is less harm on people of needs that are not being met.

Governments also  represents a “moral authority” in determining the right things where “Man” defines the moral code.  For the U.S system of government, the intent of the founders was that  the Power to identify the right things in working towards a more perfect Union, was to be managed on behalf of the citizens through a balance  between the three branch of government, the federal government and the states.   The length of the terms of office were staggered to help balance short term and long-term interests. Presidents are elected to 4 years, Senate 6, Congressman 2 and supreme court  justices have lifetime appointments.

The Declaration of Independence identifies the  commitment to the “self-evident truths”  that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed …

Leftism (Marxism)

 In contrast, political systems influenced by Marxist theory lead to a centralization of power inherent in socialist  and communist based systems.   Marx ‘s Communist Manifesto reinforced the strategy to divide people, exploit divisions and leverage their hate and rage to inspire revolutions that will lead to the Marx version of utopia – divide, conquer, terrorize,  subjugate and control.  Marx was  raised in a Christian home but later abandoned God and associated with Satan. Marx declared: “I long to take vengeance on the One Who rules from above … We make war against all prevailing ideas of religion, of the state, of county, of patriotism.”   

Another popular treatise of the Left for revolutionary change  is Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. Alinsky dedicated his book to Lucifer – the “original radical that gained his own kingdom” – Hell.

As the newly elected atheist chaplain of Harvard University put it in The New York Times:
“We don’t look to a god for answers. We are each other’s answers.”  (1)

Mark Levin in his book American Marxism, makes the case that “the core elements of Marxist ideology are now pervasive in American society and culture” which includes critical race theory, and “escalation of repression and and censorship to silence opposing forces and enforce conformity.”  Mathew Lohmeier, who recently resigned from the Air Force as a result of the fall-out from his book “Irresistible Revolutions – Marxism’s Goal of Conquest and the Unmaking of the American Military” also reinforces the threats from Marxist inspired ideology  in the military and in American society. 

The polarity between the left and the right is exacerbated by a lack of knowledge of history and civics.  A counter to the belief that America’s founding started in 1619 vs 1776  is provided at the  following: American Civics. 

• The American republic rests upon the foundation of “E Pluribus Unum” — out of many, one. Although the Founders knew from their own experience that a vast diversity in outlooks and opinions would be present among the country’s citizens, they understood that such diversity must rest upon principles and practices we hold in common. It is up to each generation to make sure that this foundational unity remains intact. This project on American Civics seeks to contribute to that worthy cause.

In summary, within Brown County, we have the same Left vs Right political divide that is prevalent throughout the country.  We can choose the better approaches while acknowledging competing ideologies and philosophies in a respectful and constructive manner.
